Photographing 14931 Kramer Lane, Philo

Getting professional photos of a new listing is always an exciting time. The listing is fresh and full of potential and everyone is excited. Sometimes it is more fun than others - if a property is prepared and ready for photos that really helps. Photographing 14931 Kramer Lane in Philo was one of the fun ones.

It helps that this property has a unique construction - it’s PISE - pneumatically impacted stabilized earth. It is similar to but not the same as rammed earth, also called pise, but in lower case. The home takes on the colors of the earth and fits in with the natural surroundings with ease. The Kramer Lane home is a soft, warm light red-brown with complimenting corrugated metal roofing and partial siding.

Inside the home the owners have made the most of the open spaces, with soft natural furnishings and finishes. The kitchen was remodeled to remove upper cabinets and add open shelves and the enclosed pantry is now open to the kitchen, giving the whole room an airy, warm and comfortable feel. Additionally, a new hood and Wolf range were added, along with moving and replacing the refrigerator with a new Subzero. It is definitely a chef’s kitchen and a great spot for entertaining.

The former narrow passage to the master bedroom has been opened up with the removal of a hidden and rarely used desk and replaced with a simple Asian/Arts & Crafts piece that allows light in and adds a place to hang a piece of art.

The master bedroom itself has been given more utility with the removal of built-in shelves that forced the bed to one wall - and kept the size limited to a queen mattress. Now there are options on where to put the bed and what size mattress to choose. Additionally, the master closet was underutilized and the current owners have added a new California Closet with lots of storage and organizing possibilities.

The second bedroom was also treated to a closet makeover; the room was also painted a fresh off-white that just welcomes one in.

Outside, the home now has a large bird house suitable for the lovely rooster that claims the property. The terraced garden beds were not being fully used and now are home to lush vegetables. While we were there taking photos the fruit trees were in bloom. Much of the rest of the garden was still in winter mode, but one can see how beautiful it will be as the temperature warms up and things begin to leave the dormant state.

One of my favorite aspects of photography these days is the drone footage. One can see the overall lay of the land and how the home is actually sited upon the land. Architectural elements that might be missed from the ground can be fully appreciated from the air. Views are also highlighted this way.

Overall, the property at 14931 Kramer Lane was very friendly to photography. It is even more friendly to live in and enjoy. Now all we need is for you to move in and be the new loving owner of this home.
