Happy 2020!
I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! We now start writing a date with two two’s instead of one. Whether or not this is the start of a new decade, at least it is a change.
Boonville and the whole Valley suffered quite a few fires in the last month of 2019. Here’s hoping that is behind us. I think the number was seven structure fires, from chimney fires to kitchen fires to electrical fires. It was a sad, scary and crazy-feeling time.
I spent the holidays with family here at home and up in Cottonwood. We actually saw a few movies too. Knives Out, Star Wars and Uncut Gems. I loved the first one and the last one and felt OK about the one in the middle; the saga needed to be finished, it’s just really a shame we lost Carrie Fisher. I will say that Knives Out was an unexpected pleasure and quite fun. Uncut Gems was darker than I like, but the performances of Sandler and Garnett are not to be missed.
I had a lovely bike ride on the coast on New Year’s Eve; one of my favorites is riding the North Boundary Trail in Russian Gulch. We did about 12 miles and it felt good to be out on the last day of the year. That evening we had dinner with friends and then went to another party that included some fireworks.
New Year’s Day was quiet though we did get in a short hike around the property. I scoped out some potential new bike trails on the place and got in a little work on them as well. We celebrated with a little caviar and Champagne at the end of the day, which was nice.
So, now we’re off to the New Year and all that will come. I hope everyone gets a chance to get out and enjoy some of the beautiful winter weather we’re having. Happy New Year!
