Bring on the sun!

With the first beautiful rays of sunshine this past week I noticed a big increase in real estate activity. Calls and emails were up, showings were up, interest in buying and selling property up. I spoke to several agents who are likewise experiencing an uptick in their business. After the past few months of winter and rain, I say, bring on the sun!

I spent two days last week showing properties over in the inland valley, from Willits to Redwood Valley to Potter Valley and all over Ukiah. It was lovely seeing the pink blooms on all the plum trees and the redbud’s just starting to leaf out. It’s definitely out of my usual bailiwick, but it’s nice to get to see that area now and again. It’s also interesting to see what you can buy over there compared to what you can get in Anderson Valley for the same price. I don’t think it will surprise anyone that your dollar goes farther inland than here.

Along with the sunshine comes the grass. My horses went from getting five flakes of hay per day to three because they can now find enough grass to eat. We’ve also done some mowing, but the incessant rain has left the ground pretty saturated and it is easy to get stuck if you’re not careful (not talking about a lawnmower here, obviously). I saw plenty of folk out mowing and cutting grass on my travels up and down the Valley this past week as well.

I see that we have more rain coming, sigh. So get out there and enjoy the sun while you can. I know I will.
