The last few weeks....

Redwood Credit Union ATM at the Live Oak.

It has been an interesting couple of weeks since I last wrote. The ATM is fully up and running and appears to be getting a lot of use. I think in the long run it will really benefit my tenants as well as the community overall. It feels good to do something like this. And, since I get this question a lot, no I don’t make anything from the ATM except your goodwill.

The smoke has been in and out and I feel terribly for the folks who are in the midst of the fires. The smoke is bad enough and the heat wave was awful; two days in a row of 112 degrees (in the sun but not much cooler in the shade) was too much for me and much of our grape crop. We may salvage a little but only a little if any at all. I hear the Pinot noir crop was light overall this year and it was for us. It’s the Zinfandel that is still hanging out on the vine.

The smoke certainly curtailed most of my bike riding. I did get out on a great coastal ride a couple of weeks ago; my nephew got a really nice older bike for a deal and we went out with some friends on the coast for a long, long single track ride that was wonderful. For any of you who know the trails, we hit Manly, Jeep Trail, Steam Donkey and Big Tree (and we visited the Big Tree).

Real estate continues to hum along and most of the lower end listings have been or are in the process of being sold. I have one new, beautiful listing out on Mountain View, but it’s not at the lower end. Check out the listings on our site for more details and photos.

We got out socially on Saturday night for dinner at the A16 popup. That was a great evening; the weather was perfect and smoke-free. We sat outside behind the Farrer Building which looked magical in under the string lights. We got to see friends and neighbors that we haven’t seen in months, if at a safe distance. The food and Italian wines were wonderful.

Here’s to hoping the smoke stays away, the fires go out and we all get a chance to visit each other a bit more from a safe distance.
