May is here already!

A beautiful Spring day in Anderson Valley.

A beautiful Spring day in Anderson Valley.

Somehow, May is here already. This season of lock-down seems to go on and the weather changing almost seems odd to me. When it started we had rain and it was cold; now the sun is shining and we’ve had warm, balmy days. Some showers too, which was nice, especially as we try to finish the last of the burn piles. We made it all the way around the vineyard! The hillside above the vineyard is now visible, with the large firs, oaks and redwoods exposed to view and it is lovely.

We work long, hard days here now. I love it, but my body is aching and protesting. I miss being able to see the chiropractor, the acupuncturist and the masseuse. The worst is my hands; they are swollen and sore and numb sometimes too. But that doesn’t stop me from going out to the yard and working on another project. I’ve decided to put in a hummingbird garden - or rather, I think, I will be planting hummingbird-friendly plants/flowers around the yard and on the deck.

As many of you know from your own experience, marriage is hard work. It’s amazing, to be able to spend time with the person you have chosen and who has chosen you. But. We spend so much time together now, all our little quirks come out stronger than ever. But this isn’t a rant about my wonderful, patient and generous husband. Rather, it’s a saluet to the things that marriage can teach us. We walk the world, generally, in our own shoes, looking at things from our own point of view. A partner can point that out and point out when that view is flawed. Last evening this happened to me. I was unconsciously “keeping track” of who did what - not that I wasn’t vocal about it! I just hadn’t really thought of it in those terms. Enough, said my husband. And he is right. Enough. And how freeing that is; I was spending far too much mental energy on something that just isn’t important and is actually very harmful. So, now I’m not. Whew.

There does seem to be an uptick in real estate happening. I’m getting more calls and emails this week and suddenly am busy again. There are buyers out there, some are bargain hunting, but not all. For a while, I wasn’t sure if folks should be listing their properties in the current situation, but I am beginning to think it is a good time. Land and vacant houses are the easiest right now. We agents can’t show occupied properties, but if you have been sitting on something that can be shown - perhaps one home is occupied but other buildings/homes aren’t? We can work with that. Give me a call or drop me an email and let’s talk. And at least it will be talking with someone outside your household if nothing else!

Keep safe and healthy. Hope to see you soon!
