A week spent searching for mountain bike trails in Palm Desert and a few other things.

This is my story of my recent experience with the Building Department for Mendocino County. It is probably not going to be a surprising story for anyone who has had to deal with this department but if my experience is typical, things really need to change.

Are we entering a buyer’s market? It seems that we may be. We have had a few strong years of sales and increasing prices but that seems to be slowing down somewhat.

Visiting Hendy Woods, Bowling Ball Beach and the Stornetta Public Lands with friends was a real treat.

I’m biased when I say that small communities are the best since I live in one and it’s one of the best. I attended the memorial for Steve Mize on Sunday and there were lots and lots of people there.

I haven’t been able to write much since I came back from the trip to Cabo. It was Pinot Fest, then I caught the bad cold that’s going around and then we had some family health emergencies to deal with. But things have settled down a bit.

Coming back from vacation is hard enough; one is relaxed and then gets slammed with all sorts of calls to return, emails to read and respond to and just the regular day to day stuff. But coming back and finding out that one of the nicest, best people in the Valley had died was really hard.

Easter was about food and family this year, including the flour-less cake pictured here, made with meringue and coconut cream - yum!

It never occurred to me as I sat in the little “gas station” office of North Country Real Estate from the fall of 2010 until the fall of 2016, as I watched the renovation of the Live Oak Building that one day I would own that building and the property it sits upon. On Friday afternoon, April 5th, 2019, that is what happened.
