I know I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again - Fall is my favorite season. I love the color and the light and the cooler temperatures, especially at night.

It’s smoky here again and new fires are burning; we have a new Supreme Court justice nominee that I find interesting for purely feminist reasons.

It has been an interesting couple of weeks since I last wrote. The ATM update, the smoke and a little mountain biking.

The ATM is almost done; the air is smokey and it’s hot and dry.

As a title, that sounds very boring, right? However, in truth, these are symbols of the end of mortgage payments and something to be celebrated. On the other hand, if you don’t have one and you have finished paying off your mortgage, this lack can come back and bite you at the most importune time.

Ground was broken today for the new Redwood Credit Union ATM in Boonville.

I spent most of yesterday with a young couple looking to purchase their first home. It was a fun day, rewarding, a little exhausting and it made me realize how much I enjoy working with folks purchasing for the first time.

This past Sunday was our 6th anniversary. Our usual means of celebrating - a nice room on the coast, plus dinner - weren’t anything we wanted to avail ourselves of given the current circumstances. We thought and thought and just hadn’t come up with anything when a friend mentioned the rail bikes on the Skunk Train tracks. This sounded perfect to us both.

It was a pretty quiet 4th of July around here.

I’m busy again. As the lock down has relaxed buyers have started to come out in force. The new reality of working remotely has also encouraged folks to make the move…

I last sat down to write on the 30th of March. Not too much has changed in my immediate world since that time": We have done a lot of work on the property, our daily routine of meals is different now that before and I spend a lot less time on my computer.

It’s Monday the 30th, the third week of the reality of this virus and its associated disease, Covid-19. Life is very different for everyone, mostly not for the better, but for some better than for others. At our place we are still healthy and active and thankful for that. Like everyone else, we watch the news and cry for New York and its dead and its medical providers. It’s a tough time.

The last couple of weeks have been interesting, to paraphrase the infamous Chinese “blessing.” We went from spending another week in Tahoe, at the Kirkwood resort, to coming home to pretty much isolation on the ranch.
